Chris’s Bike: BMW F800GS Adventure

I loved my old R1150GS adventure…loved it, however, it was time to try something new and I’d been eyeballing that F800 since the first model arrived on the streets 10 year ago.  As I wander further into the adventure riding genre, I found myself seeking harder routes, so stepping down in CC and going with a lighter bike made sense.  With a suspension upgrade, full armor, and an excel 21″ front rim, she’s a blast off road!  A ride up to Cairo ought to be a good break in.

Katelyn’s Bike: BMW F650GS

This is the first and only motorcycle I have ever ridden so I can’t really compare it to anything else, but I do know that she is a blast and a very capable off road adventure machine. I originally had my eye on the Dakar, but being only 5’2″ and 100lbs my options were limited. I still needed a custom lowered seat on this bike to be able to get my toes on the ground. I did a lot of work on the bike to prepare her for this trip. Chris and I teamed up and did all the upgrades ourselves, working dawn to dusk for a week straight. We replaced the steering head bearings, overhauled the front forks, gave her a new water pump, fan and upgraded rear shock.
